The Delta State Police Command has neutralized a kidnapping threat in a decisive joint operation, killing one suspected kidnapper and successfully rescuing three abducted victims held in a forest hideout near Issele-Uku.
The swift response was triggered by a kidnapping report received at the Issele-Uku Divisional Police Headquarters on March 16, 2026. CSP Aderemi Badiru, the Divisional Police Officer, immediately mobilized a combined team comprising police operatives, military personnel, local vigilante groups, and hunters to comb through identified bush locations in the area.
During the intensive search, security forces encountered the kidnappers and engaged them in a fierce gun battle. One suspect was fatally shot and confirmed dead at the scene; the body was later deposited at a mortuary for autopsy and identification purposes.
All three kidnap victims were rescued unharmed and quickly reunited with their relieved families.In a follow-up sweep of the forest, operatives arrested another suspect, 22-year-old Ahmadu Hassan from Kange Village, Awe Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
He had sustained gunshot wounds during the shootout and is currently receiving treatment under strict police guard while investigations continue to apprehend other fleeing members of the criminal syndicate.One AK-47 rifle loaded with four rounds of live ammunition was recovered from the scene.
Confirming the operation, Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, highlighted the effective collaboration that dismantled the syndicate’s activities in the area.
State Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, commended the bravery and seamless teamwork displayed by all security agencies and community volunteers involved.
CP Adesola reiterated the command’s unwavering commitment to eradicating kidnapping and other violent crimes across Delta State, while urging residents to continue providing timely, credible intelligence to support ongoing security operations.
The successful rescue and neutralization of the kidnappers underscore the intensified anti-kidnapping campaign currently being waged by the Delta State Police Command.
