The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Oyo State Command, has arraigned two suspected drug traffickers, Babatunde Awoyemi, 63 and Banke Adigun, 50, before a Federal High Court in Ibadan for allegedly transporting 770gm of Tr@madol and 47gm of Rubnol.
However, Awoyemi, male and Adigun, female, pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge of unlawful dealing and possession of n@rcotics instituted against them.
Consequently, Justice Uche Agomoh ordered the defendants to be remanded to the Agodi Correctional Facility and adjourned the case until April 27 for a hearing on the bail application.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Mrs R.O. Ige, told the court that the defendants committed the crime on Dec. 8 2025 along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Oyo State.
Ige alleged that the NDLEA operatives arrested Awoyemi and Adigun while transporting a sack containing 770gm of Tramadol and 47gm of Rubnol, both psychotropic substances with similar functions as Coc@ine, Hero!ne and C@nnabis Sativa.
She noted that the offences contravene the provisions of section 11(C ) of the NDLEA Act Cap n30 law of the Federation 2004.
