The Nasarawa State Government has dismissed reports claiming that Governor Abdullahi Sule held a secret meeting with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, during the lesser Hajj.
In a strongly worded statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ibrahim Addra, the government described the allegation as “a complete fabrication, false in its entirety, and did not happen.”
The statement clarified that Governor Sule did not meet with Atiku Abubakar or any of his associates while in Saudi Arabia for the spiritual exercise. It added that the governor was not even aware that Atiku was in the country at the time.
The Nasarawa government further stated that Governor Sule has consistently used every platform to commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership qualities and has reaffirmed his support for the current administration.
It accused certain political actors of trying to sabotage the cordial relationship between President Tinubu and Governor Sule, but expressed confidence that such attempts would fail.
The denial was issued in response to earlier reports suggesting that Governor Sule allegedly pledged financial support to Atiku’s efforts to challenge President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Atiku’s spokesperson, Paul Ibe, had also stated that he was not aware of any such meeting.
The Nasarawa State Government reiterated that APC governors remain solidly behind President Tinubu and that no fabricated story can undermine their loyalty to him.
