The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, has dismissed as false and politically motivated reports that Governor Ademola Adeleke has secured the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his second-term bid in the August 15, 2026 election.
In a statement issued Monday by the Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) Media Fronts and signed by Coordinator Adebayo Adedeji, Oyebamiji described the alleged pact as baseless rumour spread by associates of the Osun State Government to deceive voters and prop up a struggling administration.
“We state unequivocally that this claim is false, unfounded, and a deliberate attempt to mislead the people of Osun State. It is nothing more than a desperate move to shore up the image of an administration that has failed to deliver purposeful and effective leadership,” the statement read.
Oyebamiji alleged that President Tinubu lacks confidence in Adeleke’s leadership, pointing to the governor’s unsuccessful attempts to defect to the APC.
He accused the current administration of poor governance, marked by a lack of transparency and accountability.
The APC candidate said he recently met with President Tinubu, where he presented his vision for Osun’s development, which he said aligns closely with the president’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” in areas such as education, agriculture, and infrastructure.
“President Tinubu will not abandon a loyal and credible party man for a candidate seeking an undeserved second term,” he added.
Highlighting his own credentials, Oyebamiji referenced his time as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).
He claimed to have reduced waterway accidents and fatalities by 73 per cent and boosted the agency’s revenue by over 100 per cent within two years, demonstrating what he called proven capacity for effective leadership.
He contrasted this record with what he described as the Adeleke administration’s “waste and misplaced priorities.”
Oyebamiji concluded that any supposed political alliance between President Tinubu and Governor Adeleke exists only “in the imagination of those peddling falsehood.”
