Made-in-Nigeria Must Meet Global Standards – Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima has charged members of the National Council on Skills (NCS) to ensure that Made-in-Nigeria products and services meet world-class standards.

Shettima made the call while chairing the 8th meeting of the National Council on Skills at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He urged stakeholders from federal ministries, state governments, and the private sector to harness the innovative and energetic spirit of Nigerians to drive the country’s industrial growth and development.

The Vice President stressed that the creativity and resilience demonstrated by Nigerians in streets, schools, and workshops must be effectively tapped to power the nation’s ongoing industrial revolution.

Shettima further emphasized that the council’s mandate extends beyond preparing for international competitions.

As preparations begin for the inauguration of the National Working Committee for WorldSkills Nigeria, he said the focus must remain on building sustainable skills that elevate local production to global standards.

The 48th WorldSkills Competition is scheduled to hold in Shanghai, China, in 2026. The global event will bring together skilled young professionals from different countries to showcase their talents.

The Vice President’s directive is expected to guide the council’s efforts towards strengthening Nigeria’s skills development framework and boosting the competitiveness of Nigerian goods and services in the international market.
