Gunmen who abducted Joseph Aladesuyi, the secretary of Okeluju Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Ondo State, have contacted his family demanding a ransom of ₦100 million for his release.
The incident occurred on Monday morning when armed kidnappers invaded Aladesuyi's poultry farm at the Kajola axis of Ilu-Abo community, Akure North Local Government Area, near the Akure Airport.
Aladesuyi, who also serves as the Managing Director of Jotina Farms, was taken along with two other individuals.According to a family source who spoke to Daily Post, the kidnappers made contact via telephone around 7:00 am on Tuesday (March 10, 2026).
The call was brief and offered no room for negotiation.“They (kidnappers) called this morning. They asked us to bring ₦100 million before they would release him. They spoke very shortly and hastily,” the source said.
The abduction has sparked panic in the community, with reports of schools closing and heightened fear among residents.
The Okeluju LCDA falls under Akoko North West Local Government Area, though the kidnapping took place in neighboring Akure North.
No official statement from the Ondo State Police Command was immediately available in connection with the ransom demand, though police had earlier confirmed the abduction of Aladesuyi and one other person (with some reports mentioning two others).
Security agencies are yet to comment on ongoing efforts or negotiations.
