Hon. Ibrahim Mohammed, the Representative for Birnin Kebbi/Kalgo/Bunza Federal Constituency, has officially left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement released on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, the lawmaker pointed to the ongoing leadership disputes, internal divisions, and court cases that have continued to weaken the PDP as the main reasons for his decision.
“The persistent leadership crisis and factional conflicts within the PDP have made it difficult for dedicated members to function effectively and deliver on their mandate,” Mohammed said.He added that the move followed broad consultations with his constituents and major stakeholders in the federal constituency.“
"After extensive discussions with leaders and people across Birnin Kebbi, Kalgo, and Bunza, I have decided to join the APC to strengthen my capacity to serve my constituents better,” he stated.
Hon. Mohammed has formally notified the PDP leadership in Nasarawa I Ward of his resignation and has also informed the Speaker of the House of Representatives about his defection.
This development marks yet another setback for the PDP in Kebbi State, coming shortly after the party lost its State Secretary, Abubakar Bawa Kalgo, due to similar internal wranglings.
