The Kano State Government has confirmed that Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II will lead this year's Eid-el-Fitr Durbar celebrations, while issuing firm security guidelines to maintain order and prevent any potential disruptions during the festivities.
The announcement, approved by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, comes amid credible intelligence suggesting that certain individuals may attempt to incite unrest during the Sallah period.
In a statement released on Wednesday by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, the government reaffirmed its dedication to upholding Kano's rich cultural traditions while placing the highest priority on peace and public safety.
The statement outlined that the main Hawan Idi (Eid Durbar) will be led by Emir Sanusi II, proceeding from the Kofar Mata Eid Ground along approved routes to Gidan Shettima, and concluding at Kofar Fatalwa within the emir's palace.
To enhance security, modifications have been introduced: Hawan Nasarawa will proceed in a limited format, excluding traditional horseback displays. Meanwhile, Hawan Daushe, Hawan Fanisau, and Hawan Dorayi have been temporarily suspended as a precautionary measure to safeguard public safety.
The government has instructed all security agencies to heighten surveillance, enforce full compliance with these directives, and maintain vigilance before, during, and after the celebrations.
Residents are urged to stay calm, adhere to the law, cooperate with security personnel, and avoid circulating unverified information that could fuel tension.
The Kano State Government assured citizens of its unwavering commitment to ensuring a peaceful, secure, and successful Eid-el-Fitr celebration, extending warm wishes for a joyous and blessed Sallah to all Muslims in the state.
