The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has achieved a significant milestone in consolidating party unity, as key stakeholders across the state endorsed and affirmed the newly elected State Executive Committee following a peaceful congress.
This development was announced in a press release issued on Wednesday by Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, spokesperson to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
The new executive, elected through consensus during the state congress held at the Sani Abacha Indoor Sports Hall, features Hon. Umar Haruna Doguwa (also known as Umar Doguwa) as State Chairman. He recently resigned as Commissioner for Water Resources in the Kano State government to contest and emerged unopposed.
Other key members include Salisu Maje-Gwangwazo as Deputy Chairman, Prof. Yusuf Sabo-Bichi (or Prof. Mohammad Yusuf) as State Secretary, and Fatima Dala as State Woman Leader, among a 28-member team.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Deputy Senate President Senator Barau Jibrin, and former APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje jointly congratulated the new executives, hailing their emergence as a crucial step toward reinforcing unity, stability, and cohesion within the Kano State chapter of the party.
The leaders praised party members for conducting a successful and violence-free congress, describing the outcome as a true reflection of the collective will and aspirations of APC supporters throughout the state.
Other prominent figures, including Murtala Sule Garo, Tijjani Gwarzo, Abba Kabir Bichi, and additional party leaders, pledged their unwavering support to the new leadership.
They stressed the importance of reconciliation, collaboration, and shared responsibility to reposition the APC for stronger performance in upcoming elections.
The stakeholders called on the new executives to prioritize inclusiveness by carrying all members along, upholding fairness, transparency, and equity in all party activities.
They highlighted that the broad affirmation and display of unity during the process sends a powerful message: the APC in Kano State is now more united, focused, and ready to function as one cohesive family.
Party leaders further urged members at grassroots, local government, and state levels to rally solidly behind the new executive for the continued progress, growth, and electoral strength of the party in Kano.
This endorsement comes amid recent political realignments in the state, including Governor Yusuf's earlier defection to the APC, positioning the party for greater influence ahead of future contests.
