Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has broken her silence on the long-running tensions between colleagues Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham, revealing her past mediation efforts while announcing she will no longer intervene in their disputes.
In a detailed Instagram post on Tuesday, Iyabo addressed critics who had been attacking her character over the matter. She described the statement as her “first and last time” speaking publicly on the issue, aiming to set the record straight.
Iyabo recounted her longstanding friendship with Funke Akindele, admitting that the two had previously fallen out on both sides. She took responsibility for once publicly dragging Funke in support of Toyin’s movie, calling it a wrong move that she later regretted. The trio eventually reconciled after Iyabo’s intense efforts, including crying, kneeling, and begging both parties to embrace peace.
The actresses were seen interacting positively a few months ago, but with a clear condition: any future issues would be resolved privately off social media, without online shading. However, fresh drama erupted in December when Toyin complained about alleged sabotage of her movie in cinemas, with some fans pointing fingers at Funke, reigniting the feud.
Despite her deep investment, Iyabo expressed sadness over the situation, noting that “the sky is big enough for all.” She stated she has done her best but can no longer beg anyone to reconcile. “I honestly don’t want to get involved anymore,” she said, urging fans to respect her decision and allow the two actresses to make peace when they are ready. She affirmed her love for both regardless of the outcome.
The statement follows a viral video from the recent premiere of Iyabo Ojo’s movie, where Funke Akindele appeared to ignore Toyin Abraham’s greeting, sparking widespread online speculation and discussions.
Iyabo’s clarification aims to highlight her neutral stance and past reconciliation role while stepping back from future involvement in the actresses’ personal and professional differences.
