Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Olatunji Rilwan Disu on Monday decorated 30 senior police officers recently elevated to the ranks of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) and Commissioner of Police (CP).
The decoration ceremony followed the promotion of 84 senior officers across various ranks, which included 54 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCP) and Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP).
Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Anthony Placid, confirmed the event in a statement on Monday.
Among those decorated were 13 new AIGs: Christopher Ado Emmanuel, Joseph Eribo, Miller Gajere Dantawaye, Henry Ifeanyi Uche, Olanrewaju Peter Ogunlowo, Mohammed Dahiru (fdc), Dankombo Faling Morris, Bello Shehu, Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, Ahmed Musa, Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, Simeon Udofia Akpanudom (fdc), and Haruna Olufemi.
Seventeen officers were also decorated as Commissioners of Police, including Abdulrahim Audu Shaibu, Sarah Idowu Ehindero, and Rebbecca Uchenna Okereke.
Speaking at the ceremony, IGP Disu described the promotions as recognition of merit, discipline, and proven capacity.
He said they represent a strategic investment in leadership to build a more effective, accountable, and responsive police force.
The IGP charged the newly decorated officers to lead by example with zero tolerance for indiscipline, corruption, or dereliction of duty.
He emphasised that respect for human rights and active community engagement are non-negotiable, while stressing the need for people-oriented policing.
Disu also announced that all the newly promoted AIGs will attend a mandatory Strategic Leadership Retreat starting Tuesday, March 24, 2026, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The retreat aims to deepen transformational leadership standards and modern policing ethics.The event, which took place in Abuja, featured the pinning of new ranks on the officers by the IGP.
