‘How Dare You, Who Are You?’- Falana Blasts Trump Over US Role in Iran War

Prominent Nigerian human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Femi Falana, has sharply criticized U.S. President Donald Trump over the ongoing war involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, accusing him of acting like the "leading terrorist in the world today" through reckless use of military force.

In an interview on Channels Television's Politics Today program, Falana condemned the US/Israeli military campaign in Iran, describing Trump's approach as driven by confusion and a blatant disregard for international law, United Nations resolutions, and principles of sovereignty.

Falana highlighted Trump's alleged actions, including announcing invasions and making threats against foreign leaders without accountability. He referenced past incidents, such as what he described as Trump's invasion of Venezuela and the capture of its president, as examples of similar contempt for global norms.

"Here is a man who can announce to the world that he had invaded Venezuela, he had captured the President and his country. He did this without regard to international principles," Falana stated.

Turning to Iran, Falana accused Trump of entering the conflict with unclear objectives ostensibly to prevent nuclear development or support for terrorist groups while resorting to threats of assassination against Iran's leadership.

"And so he went to Iran with a lot of confused state of mind. He didn’t know what he wanted... He wanted to stop Iran, according to him, from developing nuclear power," he said.

Falana went further, labeling Trump's threats to eliminate Iran's leader, followed by comments on the successor and demands for unconditional surrender and subservience, as the very definition of terrorism: "the use of violence, mindless violence, to achieve political objective."He concluded his rebuke with a direct challenge to Trump's perceived overreach:"How dare you? Who are you that you have to take over the entire world."

The comments come amid reports of escalating hostilities, including explosions in Iran's capital from Israeli strikes, warnings from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Iran's new Supreme Leader, and ongoing U.S. involvement in the conflict now in its second week, featuring airstrikes and missile retaliations.

Falana's remarks form part of his broader call for Nigeria and other nations to apply diplomatic pressure on the Trump administration, revive multilateral efforts, and strengthen domestic security capabilities rather than relying on foreign powers drawing lessons from Iran's resistance and the risks of imperialist interventions. He urged Nigeria to reorganize its armed forces and police to safeguard sovereignty independently.
