Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has forwarded a list of nine commissioner nominees to the Rivers State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
The submission comes amid ongoing efforts to reconstitute the state's executive council following recent political developments, including the dissolution of the previous cabinet.
A review of the nominee list shows that the individuals are primarily drawn from the private sector and are personally known to the governor. None of the nominees appear to belong to the camp of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, nor were they among the prominent vocal supporters of Governor Fubara during the state's prolonged political crisis.
This composition signals a deliberate approach by the governor to bring in fresh, non-aligned technocrats and professionals to his administration, potentially aimed at fostering stability and focusing on governance priorities outside the traditional political alignments that have defined Rivers politics in recent years.
The Rivers State House of Assembly is expected to commence screening of the nominees soon, as part of the constitutional process for their confirmation and subsequent swearing-in.
