The governors-backed leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by National Chairman Tanimu Turaki (SAN), has confirmed that a new reconciliation process to unite the party's aggrieved factions is actively ongoing.
Addressing journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, alongside National Secretary Taofeek Arapaja, Turaki disclosed that the fresh moves began the previous night and continued into the morning, already producing positive results.
“I can confirm that leaders of both sides, as of today, are working towards solutions. So reconciliation is ongoing, and all hope is not lost,” Turaki stated.
He added: “From last night, those who are benefiting from this crisis and who do not want reconciliation to work have been shut out. So from that time till this morning, both sides are making some progress.”
Turaki urged party supporters to exercise restraint and avoid actions that could jeopardise the ongoing talks.The development comes amid the prolonged leadership crisis in the PDP, with the Turaki-led National Working Committee pushing for unity ahead of future political engagements.
