The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 15 male suspects for their alleged involvement in the illegal transportation and dealing of radioactive solid minerals.
Operatives from the Commission's Kaduna Zonal Directorate intercepted the group on Sunday, March 8, 2026, along the Suleja-Maji Road in Niger State.
The suspects were found conveying the suspected minerals in three trucks destined for various undisclosed locations across Nigeria.
The anti-graft agency described the operation as a crackdown on illicit activities involving radioactive materials, which pose significant security and environmental risks when handled without proper authorization.
The 15 suspects are currently in custody at the Kaduna Zonal Directorate, where investigations are ongoing. The EFCC stated that they will be arraigned in court in due course.
