DSS Arrests Suspected Gun Runner with 850 Live Bullets in Cross River

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a suspected gun runner in Cross River State, recovering no fewer than 850 live rounds of ammunition from the individual.

The arrest took place in the early hours of Tuesday during a covert operation conducted by DSS operatives in a community within the state. The suspect was intercepted while allegedly transporting the ammunition to an undisclosed destination.

According to DSS sources, the operation was prompted by credible intelligence regarding the movement of illegal arms in the area. The 850 live bullets are believed to have been intended for criminal activities, raising serious concerns about potential threats to public safety and security in the region.

The suspect is now in DSS custody, where he is undergoing further interrogation. Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the suspected arms trafficking network.

This development highlights continued efforts by security agencies to curb the proliferation of illegal firearms and ammunition across Nigeria, particularly in areas prone to communal tensions or criminal elements.
