Officials from the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria Division 7 Global (DICON-D7G) recently conducted an on-site inspection of the proposed location for the country's inaugural military jetty.
The strategic facility, planned near Tin Can Island Port, is designed to significantly enhance naval logistics and provide robust operational support for the Nigerian Navy along with other security agencies patrolling the Lagos coastline and surrounding waters.
According to project officials, the jetty will serve as a dedicated hub capable of accommodating and maintaining various naval assets, including patrol boats, fast attack craft, and other maritime vessels.
This development forms part of broader initiatives to bolster indigenous defence capabilities.DICON-D7G is collaborating closely with relevant government agencies on the project's design, construction, and implementation.
The effort aligns with Nigeria's push toward greater self-reliance in defence infrastructure and local production of military hardware.
The military jetty is slated for commissioning in June 2026, marking a key milestone in advancing the nation's defence industrial base and supporting related economic benefits, including job creation in the sector.
