The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shuaibu, has unveiled the Vanquisher Light Combat Vehicles, locally manufactured combat platforms, describing the achievement as a significant milestone in bolstering Nigeria’s defence capabilities and self-reliance.
The unveiling took place in Kaduna on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. Represented by Major General Bamidele Alabi, Chief of Policy and Plans at Army Headquarters, the COAS commended Vanquish Industries Limited for its “remarkable ingenuity and technical competence” in producing the vehicles.
The Vanquisher Light Combat Vehicles are engineered with key principles of protection (enhancing troop safety and survivability), mobility (ensuring agility across diverse terrains), and adaptability (modular design for various mission roles).
They aim to improve operational efficiency, troop mobility, and protection in challenging environments.
Lt. Gen. Shuaibu praised the production as “a major step in strengthening Nigeria’s defence capability” and lauded President Bola Tinubu for his administration’s policies that promote local content, indigenous manufacturing, and self-sufficiency in the defence sector.
“The Federal Government’s commitment to promoting local content in defence production is yielding tangible results. This platform is a clear testament to what can be achieved when policy direction aligns with industrial capacity,” he stated.
The Managing Director of Vanquish Industries Limited, Mr. Zach Duwa, called the event a defining moment for Nigeria’s industrial progress.
“This moment represents more than the unveiling of a platform. It reflects vision, discipline and the firm belief that African industry can design and manufacture world-class defence solutions,” Duwa said.
He expressed gratitude to President Tinubu, the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, other service chiefs, the COAS, and the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) for their support and enabling environment for such collaborations.
The development underscores Nigeria’s push towards domestic production of military hardware, reducing dependence on imports, fostering job creation, and building resilience in national security infrastructure amid ongoing efforts to address insecurity across the country.
