Ahmed Galadima Aminu Resigns from PTDF to Contest 2027 Adamawa Governorship

Engr. Ahmed Galadima Aminu, popularly known as Tijjani Galadima, has officially resigned from his position as Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) to pursue the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in the 2027 general elections.

The development comes amid growing calls from various stakeholders, particularly women groups across Adamawa State, urging him to throw his hat into the ring. In recent weeks, the Galadima Women Support Group (GWSG) and other APC women’s movements held a high-profile convention in Yola where they passionately appealed to him to resign and contest, citing his proven track record, integrity, and capacity to build on the current administration’s achievements.

Sources close to the former PTDF boss indicate that his decision aligns with the federal government’s directive requiring political appointees interested in elective positions to resign within a stipulated timeframe. Galadima’s resignation is seen as a strategic move to fully commit to grassroots mobilization and ward-level consultations ahead of party primaries.

Galadima, who has been described as a technocrat with vast experience in the oil and gas sector, enjoys significant backing from women and youth groups. The women’s movement has reportedly raised a substantial war chest, including N200 million, specifically aimed at purchasing nomination and expression of interest forms for him.

Supporters believe his expertise in human capital development through the PTDF — an agency focused on building local capacity in the petroleum industry — positions him uniquely to address Adamawa’s developmental challenges, including youth unemployment, infrastructure deficits, and agricultural modernization.

While Galadima is yet to make a formal public declaration in some reports, his resignation signals clear intent. His campaign machinery, including groups like “Naka Sai Naka Support – T J 2027,” has already dismissed earlier rumors of withdrawal, reaffirming his commitment to the race.

Political analysts view his entry as potentially reshaping the 2027 contest in Adamawa, bringing a blend of federal experience and technocratic competence into what is expected to be a highly competitive race.Further details on his formal declaration and campaign strategies are expected in the coming days as the political atmosphere in the state continues to heat up.
