ADC Nullifies Suspension of Senator Ireti Kingibe, Sanctions Three Ward Officials

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially overturned the controversial suspension of Senator Ireti Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory, describing the action as illegal, unconstitutional, and procedurally flawed.

In a firm decision announced on Sunday, March 15, 2026, the FCT chapter of the party supported by representatives of the national leadership ruled that the indefinite suspension imposed by Wuse Ward executives violated the ADC constitution and lacked any legitimate basis.

The party has now imposed sanctions on three key ward officials accused of masterminding the unlawful suspension: Wuse Ward Chairman Kanayo Chukwu, Amanda Pam, and Omale Suleiman.

They face disciplinary measures for breaching party rules, engaging in anti-party conduct, and failing to follow due process.

Addressing party members and journalists at the FCT secretariat in Abuja, National Working Committee member Emmanuel Destiny stressed that the national leadership had received no formal petition or written complaint against Senator Kingibe.

“The party is supreme to every individual,” Destiny declared. “You cannot wake up one morning and suspend a serving senator without submitting a written petition or complaint. What we witnessed was nothing short of shenanigans and gangsterism.”

Deputy National Auditor Princess Nneka Nneboh reinforced the position, stating that the national leadership had repeatedly urged the ward to follow proper channels but their patience had run out: “Enough is enough.”

FCT Secretary John Hyginus pointed to administrative failures and anti-party activities within the ward structure, noting that both ward and area council chairmen had already passed a vote of no confidence in the three sanctioned officials.

The controversy began earlier this week when Wuse Ward executives publicly announced Senator Kingibe’s indefinite suspension, accusing her of anti-party activities, insubordination, breach of party regulations, and allegedly withholding funds meant for the ADC’s campaign during the recent FCT area council elections.

However, the national leadership, through National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi, swiftly rejected those claims as baseless and misleading, emphasizing that a ward-level body has no constitutional authority to suspend a sitting senator.
