2027: KWAM1’s Daughter Declares Ambition to Represent Surulere in Lagos Assembly

Basirat Damilola Marshall, daughter of renowned Fuji music icon King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall (popularly known as KWAM1), has publicly declared her intention to contest for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Marshall, a barrister and currently serving as Senior Special Assistant to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tourism, aims to represent Surulere Constituency II in the 2027 elections.

In her declaration, she expressed strong commitment to serving the people of the constituency, emphasizing her readiness to bring development and effective representation to the area.

Her move positions her as a potential candidate under the All Progressives Congress (APC), aligning with her existing role in the Sanwo-Olu administration.

The announcement highlights the growing trend of political involvement among children of prominent Nigerian figures, particularly in Lagos, where family legacy and public service experience often play key roles in electoral contests.

Surulere Constituency II covers key areas of the bustling local government, and the seat has been competitive in past elections. No official party primaries have been conducted yet, as preparations for 2027 remain in early stages.

Further details on her campaign platform or specific motivations are expected to emerge as she engages with party stakeholders and constituents in the coming months.
