A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has likened the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to a chaotic household engulfed in internal strife, warning that the party is already showing signs of serious disarray ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Momodu made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme on Wednesday, describing the APC as "a house in commotion" that appears jittery and is desperately pretending everything is fine internally.
He pointed to ongoing crises in various states as evidence of the turmoil: “If you read the news today, you will see that the APC is indeed a house of commotion. From Benue to Zamfara and so many other places, they are fighting themselves like babies fighting for lollipops.”
Momodu went further to criticise President Bola Tinubu's leadership style, highlighting what he called an unacceptable overlap in party affiliations.
He questioned the president's apparent tolerance for a situation where one individual serves as a leader in both the APC and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) simultaneously.
“Today, we have a party leader who controls two political parties at the same time and President Bola Tinubu is cool with that. Such a person is a leader of the APC and a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. Is that democracy?” he asked rhetorically.
The outspoken media personality and politician suggested that these internal battles and questionable practices are undermining democratic principles and exposing vulnerabilities in the ruling party as the race toward 2027 intensifies.
Momodu's comments come amid broader opposition efforts to capitalise on perceived APC weaknesses in the buildup to the next presidential contest.
