A video showing Seyi Makinde declining to k!ss his wife, Engr. Tamunominni Makinde, during a public event held to mark Oyo State’s 50th anniversary, has gone viral on social media.
The incident occurred
on Wednesday night at the state’s anniversary dinner and award ceremony in
Ibadan, attended by government officials and other dignitaries.
During the programme, the event compere made a light-hearted
request, inviting Mrs. Makinde to plant a k!ss on the governor. In the
circulating video, Mrs. Makinde leaned towards him following the prompt, but
the governor turned his face away, declining the gesture.
Governor Makinde and his wife remained at the event after the moment, and proceedings continued without disruption. As of the time of filing this report, the governor’s office has not issued any official statement addressing the video or explaining the interaction.
