The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has directed the immediate deployment of tactical, operational, and intelligence units to Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State following a deadly attack that occurred on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
In a strongly worded statement, the IGP condemned the brutal violence in the strongest terms and extended his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and the entire people of Kwara State.
He reassured the public that the Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in its constitutional duty to protect lives and property across the country.In response to the incident, security has been significantly reinforced in Kaiama and surrounding communities to restore peace, stabilize the area, and prevent any further attacks.
The police have launched a comprehensive manhunt for the perpetrators, with a clear commitment that those responsible will be tracked down, arrested, and brought to justice without delay.
The Inspector-General urged residents of Kaiama and neighbouring areas to remain calm, go about their lawful activities, and cooperate fully with security agencies by providing credible and timely information through the nearest police station or other designated official channels.
