Troops of the Joint Task Force Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have intensified offensive operations against terrorists in the North East, neutralizing five insurgents, foiling an attempted attack, and rescuing three kidnapped children in separate engagements on February 20 and 21, 2026.
According to a statement issued by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, the successes were recorded through sustained aggressive patrols and coordinated actions with hybrid forces, vigilantes, and local hunters.
Key operational highlights:
In a major firefight, troops of Sector 1, while conducting a fighting patrol, engaged suspected JAS/ISWAP terrorists near Sabsawa village in Borno State.
The troops brought overwhelming firepower to bear, scattering the insurgents and forcing them to flee in disarray.
During follow-up exploitation of the contact area, five terrorists were neutralized.
In another operation, troops deployed at Ngurosoye under Sector 1 rescued three abducted children during a perimeter patrol in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the children were kidnapped approximately two months earlier along the Gubio axis by suspected terrorists and subsequently moved to Bula-Daloye.
The rescued minors have been handed over to the Nigeria Police for further necessary action and reunification with their families.
The statement emphasized that ongoing offensive operations carried out in close collaboration with hybrid forces, local vigilantes, and hunters have significantly restricted terrorists’ freedom of movement and denied them safe havens in various parts of the theatre.
These latest successes add to the growing list of operational gains by Operation HADIN KAI in its campaign to degrade Boko Haram and ISWAP remnants, secure civilian populations, and restore normalcy in communities across Borno and other affected states in the North East.
