Veteran Nollywood actor Saidi Balogun has revealed that President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu once stepped in to arrange overseas medical treatment for him after he was involved in a serious accident.
Speaking in an interview on OYINMOMO TV, Balogun recounted that the crash left him in critical condition, prompting the President and his wife to push for immediate plans to have him flown out of Nigeria for specialised care.
According to him, the couple acted swiftly out of concern for his health and wellbeing.
Although he eventually received quality treatment within Nigeria and did not travel abroad, the actor said their readiness to intervene at such a difficult moment left a lasting impact on him.
“When I had an accident. President Tinubu and his wife stepped in and asked that I be taken abroad for treatment. I was well treated in Nigeria. I asked aunty why she did it”, the actor recalled.
Balogun also recalled a personal exchange with the First Lady, during which he questioned why she had gone to such lengths on his behalf.
In response, she told him, “You are a star of God, and they must not let your light dim.”
“It was from her I learnt that if you take care of someone else’s child, God will take care of yours. She said I didn’t need to thank her because she wanted God to bless her in return, and that God may not answer her if I keep thanking her”, he added.
The actor said those words changed his perspective, strengthening his belief in the power of compassion and timely support.
He added that the experience reinforced his conviction that showing kindness to others invites divine protection over one’s own family — a principle he now strives to live by.
