Tinubu Receives Briefing from Kwara Gov AbdulRazaq on Deadly Kaiama Attack

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday held a closed-door emergency security meeting at the State House with Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who briefed him on the recent terrorist attack in Worro community, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The meeting followed the brutal assault on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, where gunmen widely attributed to Boko Haram terrorists killed dozens of residents, with casualty figures reported between 75 and over 160, including many local Muslims targeted for rejecting extremist indoctrination and refusing to adopt a "strange doctrine."

Governor AbdulRazaq, speaking to journalists after the audience, confirmed he updated the President on the gory details of the attack and thanked him for the swift response.

He expressed confidence that the President's directive to deploy an army battalion and launch Operation Savannah Shield would deter further violence, flush out the perpetrators, secure the area, and restore calm to the beleaguered communities.

President Tinubu strongly condemned the attack as "cowardly," "beastly," and "inhumane," describing the gunmen as heartless for targeting defenseless civilians and soft rural targets in their campaign of terror.

He emphasized the disturbing motive behind the killings the victims' refusal to submit to forced extremist ideology and reiterated the federal government's commitment to closer collaboration between federal and state agencies to support affected communities, provide relief, and ensure justice for the perpetrators.

The engagement comes amid heightened national and international outrage over the massacre, with calls for enhanced security measures in the North-Central region.

The President’s directive for military reinforcement aligns with earlier deployments of police tactical teams to the area, underscoring a multi-agency approach to combat the spread of terrorism into previously calmer regions.

Governor AbdulRazaq assured that the state government is working hand-in-hand with federal forces to deliver emergency support to survivors while the manhunt for the attackers continues.
