Vice President Kashim Shettima will preside over a two-day National Economic Council (NEC) Conference starting Monday, February 9, 2026, as the Federal Government seeks to bolster economic coordination and accelerate inclusive growth across Nigeria's 36 states.

According to a statement issued by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications in the Office of the Vice President, the conference will bring together governors of all 36 states, along with key national stakeholders.

It is scheduled to take place at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja on February 9 and 10, 2026.

The event is convened by the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.

Its central theme is “Delivering Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development: The Renewed Hope National Development Plan.”

The conference aims to generate far-reaching policy directions for the states, helping them align with the Federal Government's long-term economic agenda under the Renewed Hope framework.

Vice President Shettima, who chairs the National Economic Council, will lead the summit.

Discussions will focus on critical areas such as fiscal coordination, investment mobilisation, and shared development strategies between the federal and state governments.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to attend as the Special Guest of Honour. Other participants will include top government officials, development partners, and private-sector leaders, as the administration continues to deepen reforms and strengthen partnerships for sustainable national growth.
