Traffic has been severely disrupted along the Abuja–Keffi expressway after truck drivers barricaded the highway in protest over the alleged assault and arrest of one of their colleagues.
According to eyewitness accounts, the incident reportedly involved a VIP convoy that confronted a truck driver for allegedly failing to yield the right of way.
The situation escalated, leading to claims of assault and the driver’s subsequent arrest by security operatives.
In response, fellow truck drivers staged a blockade, shutting down both inbound and outbound lanes near Mararaba in Nasarawa State, effectively cutting off a major entry and exit route to Abuja.
The protest has left thousands of commuters stranded, with traffic stretching for several kilometres.
As of the time of this report, security authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the development.
