Senator Adams Oshiomhole, former Governor of Edo State and current representative of Edo North, visited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Friday.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Oshiomhole described the visit as a courtesy call to greet the President and extend New Year wishes.
He noted that he had not seen President Tinubu since the beginning of 2026.“I came to greet Mr. President. I have not seen him in 2026, we wish him a happy new year,” Oshiomhole said.
The visit also provided an opportunity for Oshiomhole to commend the recent public recognition of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, by U.S. President Donald Trump during the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C. Oshiomhole highlighted Trump's description of the First Lady as a "very respectable woman," "very responsible woman," and pastor of one of Nigeria's largest churches, where Trump invited her to stand for acknowledgment.
He described the moment as a significant diplomatic win for Nigeria, signaling international respect, national pride, and a testament to inclusive governance under President Tinubu.
The meeting between the two prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) figures was described as cordial, amid ongoing political discussions within the party and government. No specific policy or political agenda was detailed from the brief interaction.
