Ondo Police Arrest 13 Suspects Over Violent Idanre Attack


The Ondo State Police Command has arrested 13 suspects in connection with the deadly violent clash that erupted in Idanre on February 18, 2026, resulting in the deaths of two people, injuries to three others, and widespread property destruction.


The arrests were carried out following an intensive, intelligence-led operation personally directed by the Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, who ordered a swift manhunt to apprehend all those responsible and restore calm.


Acting on credible intelligence and through sustained surveillance, operatives from the Idanre Division conducted coordinated raids at various locations, leading to the detention of the following individuals:

Adewusi, male, 38   

Dele, male, 28   

Akinkurole, male, 38

Victor, male, 30

Abbas, male, 30

Michael, male, 35

Jolojolo, male, 36

Ifedayo, male, 38

Olamilekan, male, 25

Emmanuel, male, 25

Sunday, male, 49

Michael, male, 55

Monday, male, 25

 

The suspects are currently in custody and have provided useful statements assisting investigators. 


The police say they are actively working to establish the full motive behind the attack, uncover any additional accomplices, and clarify the specific roles of each arrested person.


CP Lawal reaffirmed the command’s unwavering commitment to bringing every perpetrator to justice. 


He expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for his strategic leadership, consistent support, and provision of operational resources that have bolstered rapid responses to security incidents across Ondo State.


The Commissioner issued a stern warning to anyone planning acts that could disrupt public peace, stating that the command will deploy its full capabilities to decisively neutralize such threats.


He appealed to residents of Idanre and the broader Ondo State community to remain calm, law-abiding, and to continue supporting the police by sharing timely and credible information that can aid the ongoing investigation and strengthen overall security.
