Igbo Man Elected APC Assistant Secretary in Gombe

An Igbo man from Anambra State, Edwin Chukwu Jeku (also reported as Edwin Chukwujeku), has been elected Assistant Secretary of Bolari East Ward in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gombe State.

The election occurred during the party's ongoing ward congresses, highlighting inclusivity for non-indigenes.Jeku, a businessman and non-indigene of Gombe, expressed joy over the outcome, describing it as proof of the APC's national character and non-discriminatory stance.

“I feel happy being among the party leaders at the grassroots. My election reflects the party’s nationality. I advise my other Igbos to try to play along at the party. We are not excluded from the party. We are fully accommodated,” he said.

He thanked Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya (also referred to as Muhammadu Yahaya) for appointing an Igbo man as Special Assistant on Inter-Community Affairs, calling it evidence of the administration's and party's commitment to inclusivity.

Jeku appealed for more non-indigenes, especially active Igbos and other residents, to be considered for political appointments in the state.

The chairman of the APC ward and local government congress committee in Gombe, Dr. Danjuma Dabo, approved the consensus and affirmation of ward executives.

He confirmed the process was smooth and compliant with party regulations.“We have come, seen and witnessed the process. It has been done the way it should be done with all the appropriate regulations,” Dabo stated.
