The Taraba State Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has successfully intercepted a suspected human trafficker and rescued 10 minors in Jalingo, the state capital.
The operation took place on Friday, January 30, 2026, at approximately 11:00 a.m. at Kurmi Park in Jalingo.
It was carried out based on actionable intelligence received by the agency and in collaboration with Mrs. Sarah Ishaya, the Special Adviser to the Taraba State Governor on Human Trafficking.
State Commandant Mr. Bako Amos disclosed the details in a statement issued to journalists over the weekend.
He stated: “Following a tip-off of intelligence today, January 30, 2026, NAPTIP Taraba Command, in conjunction with the Special Adviser to the Governor of Taraba on Human Trafficking, Mrs Sarah Ishaya, at about 11.00 a.m., intercepted a suspected human trafficker with 10 children.”
“The suspect was apprehended while making preparations to traffic the 10 children to an unknown destination,” Amos added.
“We intercepted them at Kurmi Park, Jalingo, while they were preparing to traffic the children to an unknown destination.”
As of the latest update, both the 10 rescued minors and the apprehended suspect remain in NAPTIP custody, with investigations ongoing to determine the full circumstances of the attempted trafficking, including the intended destination and any potential accomplices.
