Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has vowed to complete the Port Harcourt Ring Road project initiated under Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, declaring that the vision behind the project must be realised despite political differences.
Speaking after inspecting the project site, Fubara
acknowledged Wike as the originator of the project, describing him as “my oga.”
He further stated that discussions with contractors indicate
steady progress, stressing that the major requirement at this stage is adequate
funding and sustained government support.
“In the course of our discussions, they are still assuring
us that by October this year, they will deliver the project. From my own
assessment, what they need is funding, and from my end, the push,” the governor
said.
He expressed strong confidence that the promise made to the
people of Rivers State would be fulfilled.
“I strongly believe that the promise we made to our people
will be delivered by October, God willing. For me, this project is very
important,” he added.
Governor Fubara also acknowledged the vision behind the
project, crediting the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom
Wike, for conceiving the initiative.
“My oga, the FCT Minister, conceived this project the Port
Harcourt Ring Road. He had a very big vision. He believed that if I achieved
this project in record time, Rivers people would be happy with me,” Fubara
stated.
The governor emphasized that, regardless of past events, he
remains personally committed to seeing the project completed.
“Notwithstanding whatever happened, it is my wish and my
struggle to ensure that this vision comes to reality,” he said
