Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq arrived in Kaiama last night with service chiefs and cabinet members following the massacre of 75 local Muslims who were killed for refusing to surrender to extremists preaching a strange and violent doctrine.
The Governor, received by the Emir of Kaiama, commiserated with the bereaved community and described the victims as innocent people targeted solely for upholding peaceful Islamic values and rejecting the extremists’ twisted ideology.
He announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the immediate deployment of an army battalion to the area.
The troops will lead counter-offensive operations under Operation Savannah Shield to eliminate the threat and secure the region.
Governor AbdulRazaq assured residents of continued support from both federal and state governments, including enhanced security, relief for affected families, and justice for those behind the attack.
