Militants from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) overran a Nigerian Army outpost in Adamawa State, killing at least two soldiers in a fierce engagement before setting the facility ablaze and withdrawing with looted arms.
The assault struck the "Garahamojili" military camp (reported in some areas as Hong LGA) on Tuesday, February [exact day aligns with reports of recent weekend/overnight action leading into the 23rd].
Insurgents clashed with troops for approximately 20 minutes before gaining control of the position, according to security analyst Brant Philip and ISWAP's own claims shared on channels monitored by observers.
During the raid, the attackers reportedly torched the camp, destroyed three military vehicles, and seized weapons and ammunition.
ISWAP described the operation as the opening move in its newly declared "Burn the Camps" campaign, noting this as their first direct strike on a Nigerian Army facility in Adamawa State.
The Nigerian military has remained silent on the incident so far, with no official confirmation of casualties, damage, or any counter-operations (though some separate reports mention airstrikes on withdrawing terrorists in related contexts elsewhere in the northeast).
Photos circulating from the aftermath shared by ISWAP propagandists and referenced in initial reporting show burned structures, damaged vehicles, and other signs of the intense firefight.
