FG Launches Accreditation Process for Appointment of Five New Perm Secretaries


The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) has begun the accreditation exercise for the selection of five new Federal Permanent Secretaries, following approval by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.


The initiative aims to address existing and upcoming vacancies, with eligible candidates drawn from Adamawa, Bayelsa, Enugu, Kano, and Ogun states.


In a statement released by the OHCSF, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, OON, mni, described the accreditation as a foundational and pivotal step in shaping the leadership of the Federal Civil Service. 


She stressed that the process will significantly influence the service's future quality, integrity, and overall capacity.


Mrs. Walson-Jack, who formally declared the exercise open on Monday, February 2, 2026, in Abuja, urged the Accreditation Committee to carry out its responsibilities with the highest level of diligence, thoroughness, and strict compliance with established rules and procedures.


She further emphasized that fairness, transparency, and merit must remain the guiding principles throughout the entire selection process to ensure the appointment of capable and credible leaders for the nation's civil service.
