Former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has vowed that any money taken illegally from the Kaduna State coffers during former governor Nasir El-Rufai’s tenure will be returned.
Briefing newsmen in Kaduna during the weekend, the Human
Rights activist explained that they would do everything possible to see that as
far as they are concerned, every kobo that has been looted from Kaduna State is
returned to the state government treasury.
According to him, “The $350m loan collected by the immediate
past governor of Kaduna State, was looted, with just few projects executed in
Kaduna North Local Government Area, while making Kaduna the second most
indebted State in Nigeria.”
The former lawmaker observed that el-Rufai’s years as
governor of Kaduna was a nightmare for most citizens, characterized by tyranny,
blatant abuse of the rule of law.
He also added that they would make sure that whoever’s right
has been violated in the name of governance and abuse of power in the state,
the right will be restored and fought for.
He expressed optimism of a smooth sail for Governor Uba Sani
of Kaduna State and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the 2027 general
elections.
He said they are sending a clear message that they will work
tirelessly to see to the re-election of Uba Sani as the Governor of Kaduna
State and will also work tirelessly to see to the re-election of Bola Tinubu as
the President of Nigeria in 2027.
Sani advised that the 2027 election should be left for the
people in Southern Nigeria to decide, saying that the opposition party should
respect the principle of zoning and allow the emergence of a southern
candidate.
He advised, “The ruling party should respect the principle
of rotation of power and allow a southern candidate. Buhari was in power for
eight years. It is fair and just in the interest of this country.”
