Calling Fellow Politician Vagabond Uncalled for – Dan Ulasi

Former Anambra State Chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Dan Ulasi, has criticized the escalating use of derogatory language within the party amid its ongoing internal conflicts.

In an interview on Arise Television on Thursday, Ulasi described as "uncalled for" the recent remark by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, who implied there were no longer "vagabonds" in the PDP—a statement widely interpreted as a veiled insult directed at former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike.

Ulasi emphasized that such inflammatory terms should not be used against fellow politicians, stating: “The Oyo State governor calling Nyesom Wike a vagabond is uncalled for; such language shouldn’t be used for a political colleague. I’m saddened that the skirmishes in the PDP have gotten out of control.

Democracy depends on civility, and it appears that’s been lost.”The PDP has been grappling with deep divisions, including factional disputes and legal battles.

Ulasi noted that the Wike-aligned group did not participate in a recent court case in Ibadan, yet the opposing faction associated with figures like Turaki and Makinde, ultimately lost the proceeding.

He affirmed the party's current leadership structure, pointing out that there is only one recognized PDP, headed by National Chairman Abdulrahman Mohammed and National Secretary Sam Anyanwu.
