A video allegedly released by Boko Haram shows the group displaying more than 100 abducted victims from Kwara State, while accusing the Nigerian government of using propaganda to minimize the severity of their attacks and the scale of insecurity.
The footage, widely shared online including via Sahara Reporters, depicts numerous distressed captives mostly women, children, and at least one nursing mother being questioned in a wooded area.
Several victims reportedly confirmed they were taken from Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area.
The video follows the deadly raid on February 3–4, 2026, in Woro and Nuku villages, where gunmen killed between 162 and over 200 people, burned homes and shops, and abducted dozens.
President Bola Tinubu attributed the assault to Boko Haram and ordered troop deployment, though initial local reports and some accounts suggested involvement of the Lakurawa group, an emerging Islamist faction.
In the clip, the militants claim responsibility for the abductions and criticize official statements for allegedly underreporting deaths and distorting facts.
Families of those taken have pleaded for swift government intervention and rescue operations.
