The All Progressives Congress (APC) has relieved Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma of his position as Chairman of the Central Coordination Committee for the 2026 National Convention and appointed former Katsina State Governor Aminu Bello Masari in his place.
Governor Uzodimma, who was originally named to lead the committee, has now been reassigned to serve as the treasurer of the expanded body.
The party also increased the committee's membership from 73 to 90 to allow for greater inclusion of key stakeholders. Among the new additions are Senator Barry Mpigi and several other prominent APC chieftains.
The leadership change and membership expansion are part of the APC's preparations for its national convention, scheduled for March 2026, where new national officers will be elected. The National Working Committee has not publicly stated a specific reason for replacing Governor Uzodimma, but the adjustments appear aimed at ensuring broader representation and effective coordination.
Further details on the committee's inauguration, terms of reference, and operational plan are expected to be released soon by the APC leadership.
