In a strategic move to strengthen its position ahead of the February 21, 2026, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Councils elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially inaugurated its 137-member National Campaign Council.
The ceremony took place on Friday at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, presided over by the party's National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda.
The inauguration marks a key step in mobilizing resources, coordinating strategies, and driving grassroots campaigns to secure victories for APC candidates across the six Area Councils of the FCT.
Leading the council is a high-profile team of prominent political figures:
Chairman: H.E. Alh. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON - Governor of Kwara State and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum
Co-Chairman I: H.E. Sen. Hope Uzodinma, CON — Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum
Co-Chairman II: H.E. Hon. Mai Mala Buni — Governor of Yobe State
Co-Chairman III: H.E. Mohammed Umar Bago — Governor of Niger State

The council brings together governors, National Assembly leaders, ministers, and other influential stakeholders to oversee and execute the party's campaign efforts. With the elections just days away, the body is charged with harmonizing messaging, boosting voter mobilization, and ensuring a coordinated push for APC success in the chairmanship and councillorship races.
The formation and inauguration of this star-studded council underscore the APC's determination to dominate the FCT local polls, as the party leverages its strong gubernatorial and legislative representation to deliver results at the grassroots level.
