A support group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on President Bola Tinubu to immediately reshuffle his cabinet and remove ministers it describes as unproductive and detrimental to the administration’s goals.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Monday, the APC League of Democrats, signed by National Coordinator Hon. Babajide Oyewole and Secretary Chief Rowland Okonkwo, described the reshuffle as urgently needed to safeguard the government’s reputation and strengthen the party’s position for the 2027 elections.
The group praised a few ministers for strong performance specifically naming FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and Works Minister Dave Umahi and suggested they could be retained.
However, it demanded the removal of others it accused of inefficiency.Particularly, the group singled out the two finance ministers, Wale Edun and Doris Uzoka-Anite, calling for their immediate dismissal.
It accused them of ignoring presidential directives and worsening economic challenges, including a long-standing N4 trillion payment dispute with indigenous contractors.
“Those ministers who are up and doing could be retained, while others should be reshuffled to ensure efficiency and service delivery,” the statement said.
“The two Ministers controlling Finance… must be relieved of their duties, as a matter of urgency.”
The group pointed to ongoing protests by contractors, civil society organizations, and lawyers at the Finance Ministry as evidence of public discontent over poor service delivery and economic management.
It warned that failing to act decisively could weaken the APC’s electoral prospects in 2027, urging the President to prioritize performance and public support by refreshing the cabinet swiftly.
