APC Chairman Yilwatda Visits Gen. Yakubu Gowon in Abuja

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, paid a courtesy visit to former Head of State General Yakubu Gowon in Abuja.

The meeting highlighted the APC leadership's ongoing efforts to engage with Nigeria's elder statesmen amid the country's evolving political landscape.

During the visit, Prof. Yilwatda who assumed the role of APC National Chairman in mid-2025 sought wisdom and counsel from the revered 91-year-old former leader, who governed Nigeria from 1966 to 1975.

Social media posts and reports described the interaction as one of mutual respect, with captions such as "He who walks with the wise shall be wiser" and references to the chairman receiving "profound insights" and "wise counsel" from the elder statesman.

The courtesy call comes as part of Prof. Yilwatda's broader outreach since taking office, including engagements with party stakeholders, governors, and key figures to strengthen the ruling party's structures and unity.

Pictures from the event circulated widely online, showing the two leaders in warm discussions, reflecting intergenerational dialogue in Nigerian politics.
