Works Ministry Allocates N5bn for Judgment Debts, N2.8bn for Presidential Helipad, Jetty


The Federal Ministry of Works has proposed N12.39 billion in the 2026 appropriation bill to settle judgment debts and payments for completed projects.


According to details in the budget document presented by President Bola Tinubu on December 19, 2025, the ministry has earmarked:


N5 billion specifically for the settlement of various judgment debts, including N1.4 billion for general judgments against the ministry and N3.99 billion for a specific case (suit no. LD/7036GCM/2023)

N7 billion for repayment of debts related to completed projects.


N1.4 billion for legal fees. 

 

Among the other notable allocations are N2.8 billion earmarked for the construction of a presidential helipad and jetty in Lagos State.


Additional proposed spending includes:N1.19 billion for renovation of the ministry’s headquarters building 

  • N350 million for purchase of vehicles for senior special assistants 
  • N49 million for medical equipment
  • N29.86 million for visibility and media programmes on federal road projects
  • N28 million for production of the ministry’s in-house magazine
  • N21 million for presidential and ministerial scorecards
  • N19.6 million for an online central database for court cases
  • N10.5 million for upgrading libraries in field offices

 

These provisions form part of the ministry’s budget within the overall N58.18 trillion 2026 federal budget, which also allocates N5.41 trillion to defence and security. 


The proposals remain subject to review and final approval by the National Assembly.
