Wike Accuses Fubara of Cancelling 10,000 Youth Jobs Initiated Under His Administration

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has leveled fresh accusations against Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, claiming that Fubara terminated an employment initiative that provided jobs for 10,000 youths across various sectors of the state's economy.

Wike made the allegation during a "Renewed Hope Family thank you visit" to Ahoada East Local Government Area on Wednesday.

The former governor, who handed over power to Fubara, expressed regret over the decision, stating that his administration had successfully placed the youths in positions before leaving office.

In addition to the job cancellations, Wike criticized Fubara for taking credit for ongoing road projects, including the Ahoada-Omoku and Emohua-Kalabari roads.

He revealed that his government had awarded the contracts to Julius Berger and made substantial payments approximately 70%, totaling over N80 billion, with arrangements for monthly deductions of N4 billion from the state's internally generated revenue (IGR).

Describing Fubara as "a bad child," Wike highlighted his efforts to revitalize infrastructure in the area, noting the completion of phase one of the Ahoada road dualization and the flagging off of phase two.

No immediate response was available from Governor Fubara's camp regarding the allegations. The claims come amid ongoing political tensions between the two leaders in Rivers State.
