Why I dumped PDP to back Alia, Titus Uba explains

Former Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate in the 2023 general elections, Titus Uba, has explained his decision to leave the PDP and declare total support for Governor Hyacinth Alia of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Uba’s defection, which has stirred intense political reactions across Benue State given his status as the PDP flagbearer in the last governorship race.

Speaking on the reasons behind his decision, Uba said he felt abandoned by the PDP at a critical period in his life, contrasting the party’s attitude with the personal intervention of Governor Alia.

“When I was sick, no one from my former party, the PDP, cared about my welfare.

Governor Alia took me to the hospital, paid my bills, and provided accommodation and feeding throughout my stay in Abuja.

He came through for me when I was at my lowest,” Uba said.

According to him, the governor’s gesture went beyond politics and demonstrated genuine leadership and compassion, which ultimately informed his decision to align with the APC-led administration in the state.
