We’ll follow Wike’s instructions on 2027 elections, says Rivers APC LG chair

Rejoice Otobo, chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ahoada west LGA of Rivers, says the party will comply with the directive of Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on the 2027 elections.

Speaking on Sunday during a stakeholders’ meeting in the LGA, Otobo said the residents of the area are also going to align with the minister’s instructions.

“We await instructions from you on the 2027 elections concerning Rivers state. Wherever you ask us to go, there we shall go; whatever you ask us to do is what we will do,” Otobo told Wike, who attended the sit-down.

“All the good and the bad people of the LGA have decided that where you want us to go is where we will go.”

Ikechukwu Obuzor, chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the LGA, also pledged loyalty to the FCT minister.

“I want to say that we are standing firm with you. Wherever you go, we will go. Be assured that come 2027, Ahoada west will deliver the needed results for you,” he said.

Chita Eugene, chairman of Ahoada LGA, described Wike as “the political field marshal of the south-south”.

In his remarks, Wike asked the residents to ensure Siminalayi Fubara, governor of the state, does not secure a second term.

“Already, Rivers state is being respected because of what we are doing in FCT. We need a leader we can trust to drive our dear state to glory and progress,” Wike said.

The FCT minister started campaigning against Fubara’s re-election after the governor defected from the PDP to the APC in December.

Wike had accused Fubara of reneging on the agreement they both signed before President Bola Tinubu lifted the emergency rule in Rivers.
