Peter Okoye and Seun Kuti, the Nigerian singers, appear to have settled their years-long rift.
The feud started in February 2023 after Seun referred to
Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, as an opportunist
who can’t save Nigeria.
The Afrobeat singer’s viewpoint on the presidential
candidate did not sit well with Okoye, who had endorsed Obi ahead of the
February election.
This led to a full-blown clash on social media with
acrimonious words traded between the music heavyweights.
However, a viral video appears to show the pair reconciling.
The footage captures them embracing and smiling warmly at each other in a
nightclub. In the clip, Kuti can be heard telling Okoye, “We are artistes, we
can not be fighting over politicians”.

Both men smiled and nodded in agreement, signalling a move
past their differences.
Peter is a member of the now-defunct music duo group Psquare
alongside Paul, his twin brother. He has established himself as one of the
leading forces in the Nigerian music industry.
Seun, on the other hand, is known for his controversial
stance and socially conscious music, addressing socio-political issues in
Nigeria and beyond.
Since his debut album ‘Many Things’ in 2008, he has
continued to enjoy positive reception from Afrobeat lovers.
He also has seven albums and several extended plays (EPs) to his credit.
