US President Donald Trump says a massive armada is moving quickly to Iran with “great power, enthusiasm, and purpose” unless Iran makes a nuclear deal.
An armada is a large fleet of warship.
In a Truth Social post on Wednesday, Trump said the fleet
was headed by the Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier — larger than the one sent
to Venezuela.
“Time is running out, it is truly of the essence! As I told
Iran once before, MAKE A DEAL! They didn’t, and there was ‘Operation Midnight
Hammer,’ a major destruction of Iran. The next attack will be far worse! Don’t
make that happen again,” he said.
Last June, the US bombed three nuclear sites in Iran, keying
into Israel’s military campaign to destroy the country’s nuclear enrichment
facilities.
After the attack, Trump claimed the US attack “obliterated”
the Iranian nuclear programme but Tehran dismissed the claims.
The whereabouts of the country’s highly enriched uranium
have remained unknown since the June attacks.
“Hopefully Iran will quickly ‘Come to the Table’ and
negotiate a fair and equitable deal – NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS – one that is good for
all parties,” Trump added on Wednesday.
On Monday, warships were reported to have arrived in the
Middle East.
The warships started moving from the Asia-Pacific region
last week as US-Iranian tensions soared following an intense government
crackdown on protests which state authorities said was hijacked.
Iran has vowed a “strong response” should the US attack.
